Ocean Import Customer Services Coordinator

Location: Rainham, Essex

Salary: £31,000-£36,000 per annum, depending on experience

Position: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm

About the Role

Our client, a leading international freight forwarding and supply chain organisation, is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Customer Services Coordinator to join its busy team in Rainham.

You will play a key role in coordinating ocean import shipments and acting as the main point of contact for customers, ensuring every movement is handled accurately, efficiently and professionally.

What You'll Do

• Manage ocean import container movements, ensuring shipments are handled accurately and efficiently.

   

• Coordinate FCL and LCL import shipments.

   

• Arrange customs clearance, haulage and other associated services.

   

• Act as the main point of contact for customers and respond promptly to operational enquiries.

   

• Provide customers with accurate shipment information and regular updates.

   

• Liaise with internal departments, shipping lines, hauliers and other service providers.

   

• Escalate operational issues to colleagues or management when required.

   

• Maintain accurate records and ensure all information is entered correctly onto internal systems.

   

• Deliver consistently high standards of customer service.

   

• Ensure shipments are managed efficiently and within agreed timescales.

   

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience within the logistics or freight forwarding sector is essential.

   

• Ocean freight forwarding or ocean import experience is highly desirable.

   

• Knowledge of FCL and LCL import operations.

   

• An understanding of customs clearance and haulage arrangements.

   

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

   

• Strong administration skills and attention to detail.

   

• A proactive, organised and flexible approach.

   

• The ability to prioritise a busy workload and work effectively under pressure.

   

• Basic Microsoft Office and general IT skills.

   

• Experience using CargoWise would be particularly advantageous.
